This project is complete, and is located in Burnaby, BC. The site features an amazing view to the city and surrounding terrain. Our goal is to give this late sixties builder house a little architectural boost.
We removed the gabled carport roof and replace with a steel armature that sweeps across the front facade. The long horizontal line improves the proportions, and a perpendicular brick ramp / plane provides a counterpoint. The basement has been redesigned along with select portions of the main floor, all with a "warm nod to 1968" (as my client is fond of saying).
Inexpensive period materials will be used, but in a much bolder fashion. Part of the front yard will be reclaimed as semi-private space for a north facing terrace.
